Terms of Service

Last updated:

Welcome to The Curd Compass. By using curdcompass.com (the “Site”) you agree to the terms below. If you don't agree, please don't use the Site.

1. What The Curd Compass is

The Site is a free, editorial guide to artisan cheesemakers and places to stay in Vermont and Maine. It provides descriptions, approximate locations, contact links, and a route-planning tool. It is not affiliated with any of the businesses listed. Listings are editorial; we do not accept payment for inclusion.

2. Informational content, not a reservation system

Hours, prices, visitor policies, and availability change frequently, especially for small farmstead operations. Always verify directly with the business before driving out to visit. We make a best effort to keep the data accurate but make no warranty that it is complete or current.

3. Third-party links and bookings

The Site links to third-party services, including search results on Booking.com through an affiliate program (see our Affiliate Disclosure). We are not responsible for the content, availability, pricing, privacy practices, or business conduct of any third-party site. Any reservation you make on a third-party platform is a contract between you and that platform.

4. Intellectual property

The Site's text, code, and design are © The Curd Compass. All photography is licensed from Unsplash under its free-use license and credited to the respective photographers within the Site's image registry. OpenStreetMap data is © OpenStreetMap contributors, used under the Open Database License.

5. Acceptable use

6. Disclaimers

THE SITE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.

7. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, The Curd Compass will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, arising out of your use of the Site. In no event will our aggregate liability exceed US $100.

8. Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Vermont, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles.
