Last updated:

The Curd Compass (“we”, “us”, curdcompass.com) is a purely informational, single-page website — a curated guide to the Vermont & Maine artisan cheese trail. This page describes how your information is (and isn't) handled when you use the site.

1. Summary

2. What we could, in theory, collect

Standard web hosting (Cloudflare Pages, etc.) automatically logs basic request metadata such as your IP address, user agent, and referring page. These logs are retained by our hosting provider under their own privacy policy. We do not aggregate, resell, or pair them with any other data.

3. Third-party services

Unsplash (images.unsplash.com)

All photography on the site is hotlinked from Unsplash's CDN. When your browser loads a card image, Unsplash's servers receive a standard HTTP request containing your IP address and user agent. See their privacy policy.

OpenStreetMap tile servers

The interactive map is rendered with tiles fetched from OpenStreetMap's public tile servers. The same baseline request metadata applies. See OpenStreetMap's privacy policy.

Stay22 (monetization)

Our Stay22 Link Monetization Automation script (letmeallez.js) runs on the home page and transparently rewrites clicks on booking buttons into affiliate-tagged URLs. Stay22 may set cookies or local storage values for attribution purposes. If you click a booking button you will leave curdcompass.com and land on a partner such as Booking.com, each of which has its own privacy policy. See Stay22's privacy policy.

Booking.com and other partners

Clicking a booking button takes you to Booking.com's search results for the property. Once you're on their site, their cookies and tracking apply; we have no insight into what you do there.

4. Cookies

We do not set first-party cookies ourselves. Stay22's letmeallez.js script may set cookies or local storage values on your browser for affiliate attribution. No other third-party on the page (Unsplash, OpenStreetMap) sets cookies in the course of rendering images or map tiles.

5. Children

The site is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

6. Your rights

Because we do not operate our own database of visitors, we have nothing to delete or export on request. If you want to understand or limit the data our third-party providers collect about you, their linked privacy policies are the canonical source.

7. Changes

If we change how this site handles data — for example by adding analytics or a mailing list — we will update this policy and bump the "Last updated" date above.
